Re: Fair price for a prewar Lionel 225E
Two years ago I bought a nice gray one with a whistle tender (with postwar trucks, but the original prewar ones were included...) for $180 at York. He wanted $200, I started at $150, we settled at $180. I still think they are the nicest proportioned engine they made in the prewar era. That is likely...

Re: Recommendation Wanted for Gluing Styrofoam
My attic access scuttle is in the garage. I built a new "door" for it by using 3 layers of 2" thick styrofoam glued together. Gravity holds it in place, as the top layer is larger than the scuttle. Liquid nails has held this contraption together for over a decade (probably jynxing the...

Re: An Old Question....again
It sounds like the CW-80 isn't shutting itself completely off (0 volts) when you press the direction button. Do the engines work properly if you use the lever to shut off track power instead of the direction button? Perhaps the direction button needs to be depressed and held for a period before the ...

Re: Super O Layout Progress Thread
Looks great! Needs a milk platform and car though! On my little Super O layout (which isn't as far along as yours is...) I am planning on using 148 dwarf signals to indicate the positions of the switches. With the manual switches, it should just be a matter of attaching an outer rail to the common a...

Re: Lionel 2036
Was it possible to use fluid in the original smoking ones that had the bulb? Seems as if the answer would be no. I posted a thread on here many moons ago about adding some tiki torch wicking (or fiberglass insulation?) to make a "nest" above my smoke bulb in my 2020 turbine. It smokes rea...

Re: Other Forums
I just went there for the first time in a month or so, or I tried to I should say. It seems it has been shut down and the name is for sale. I'm not really active in the hobby much any more, so I haven't been contributing there or elsewhere. It's still a shame to see it go though.

There's going to be an auction of one of Shoeless Joe's dark-brown hickory bats, by Sothebys, soon. Wonder what that will fetch? I'd guess that that wil depend on how far the White Sox go, and how close the auction is to the end of their post season play. No guessing needed with this idea: I'm sure...
