I was here last summer. I am known by what I wore, the man from Arizona wearing black suit with cowboy boots and hat. No matter what I wear or how long I am here, I will forever be an outsider here. It is a Kentucky thing.

The boots and hat are as practical here as in Arizona.

New use for the hat, keeps falling ticks out of my hair.

Same use for the boots, Rattle snakes in the woods. New use for the boots, Cottonmouth/Water Moccasins in the creek running through the front yard. (I hope they strike below the knee.)

No, left her and her gentle sister with a pet adoption agency.

Cat from hell has already lived up to her name. I received two frantic calls from the pet adoption place. They got the names tags mixed up. Someone got a bloody hand.

It is a ______________ thing everywhere. But maybe it begins to fade after the 3rd or 4th generation

I did recommend wearing the hat when outdoors for that very reason.

Snakes, unless in the trees, yes, below the knees.......cottonmouth/water moccasins will climb.

I was just pulling your leg about the hat! What you wear is your business!

As for being an outsider, a very good friend (RIP) from the Bay state operated a family owned marina up there. He made the comment: My family moved here from Florida in 1916, and they still call us "Outsiders".

My wife is from Morehead, @ 60 miles east of Lexington on I 64. I lived in Morehead for 10 years and
spent much time in the hills and NEVER had a tick on me until I moved to Georgia.

Talked to my daughter who still luves in Kentucky and she told me that you can walk across a grass yard and
get covered with many very small ticks. That is a change since I lft there in 1975.

But so has almost everything.

I still have fond memories of the Sylmar quake February 9, 1971, at 6:00:41 am. We were living in Garden Grove and it woke us up with the bed vibrating across the floor. And I could hear things falling throughout the house. Fortunately nothing was broke but the walls inside suffered many cracks. Lathe and plaster.
