Those "collectible" cars from the past all had a specific look for their name and were recognizable.
The autos starting @1990 have all become look-a-likes, especially from the side.
From the front they seem to be trying to intimidate with whale mouths and battering rams.

Battering rams? Cars since the mid-80's basically collapse if the front end is tapped with a half-rotted banana.

At one time I drove a 78/9 Benz SE - I was rear ended twice in that car. Both US cars that hit me were totaled. I got a scratch on the exhaust pipe.

No, no. Look like, not are. I agree. They seem to be much more delicate than they look. :)

So.................... I guess clown heritage might not have had anything to do with it. This was even a bigger horse race and kept restarting over with 2:00 minutes to go, due to hot and heavy bidding.

I knew you guys couldn't have enjoyed your holiday weekend without knowing the results,.

Sorry, the price shown on my snip-it is wrong........it went for $10K even.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. I'm outta here.

IMHO , the 1979 Cadillac Seville (a sedan) was a much better looking car. I believe the coachwork was designed by some Italian known for his good taste in creating clean lines. I had a black one, with "lipstick red" leather interior and my second "moonroof" ever. I loved that car and often (nearly every weekend ) gave intimate cocktail parties in it at curbside in Manhattan for friends, as they headed out for the discos and other adventures.

My father had one of the later Sevilles with the cut-off trunk. Barf.

We had an 82 Cadillac Eldorado. Looked like this one.

Image

It was my wife's car that she drove to work in. Came out of work one night and the car was gone. ( Stolen)
I picked her up and on the way home she was crying about losing her car. I said thank god you were not in it when they took it. We can replace the car, can't replace you.

Got a call from the police 2 weeks later on a Saturday morning at 2am wanting us to come and get it before they had it towed in. The cop stopped the car and 4 dudes baled out and ran away. I guess the dudes were planning on keeping it. It had a full tank of gas and they had added emblems to it. Had 2 bullet holes in it along with some 9mm bullets and Marijuana and condoms in the pockets behind the seats.

Maybe Murph stole it. Somebody was having intimate curbside parties in it

Robert,
Why did you repost Hondo's post?
Is that some internet thing of which I am not aware?

If you're gonna mess with the BB code, learn how to do it right. The way you're doing it now, you're misattributing quotations.

Yeah, that was a big change in the Seville, with that odd swoop-down of the side trim, ending at the trunk with that faux spare-tire shape almost vertical, if that's the one you are referring to. It's the one that made my '79 Seville the last one for me for a while.

P.S. My remark,"...intimate cocktail parties" meant a small, very private group. No sweating was involved; only relaxation and refreshment. (I knew somebody was going to react to that. I had changed it at one point in my typing to "small" but then figured, "Ahwhatthehell" and returned the wording to "intimate," kind of in the spirit of a salon of the "Dangerous Liaisons" [movie] days.)

My dad's Seville was like this one, although I don't remember it being two-toned:

His didn't have the ostentatious spare tire treatment.

OK. That part was lost with the same size type as the original and just blended in with it. Thank you.
