Question

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where asking random questions that did not fit under any of the larger headings, nor have anything necessarily in common with each other or any one theme, might be welcomed.

Here's my random inquiry:
If I get a new cat, or two new cats , what do you think of these names:
For one kitty: Oingle-boingle, or
for two cats: Zoonyattah and Moondattah? Eh? Huh?

Or are they just too lame-brained?

Call it "Thing 1".....

If you get a 2nd one, call it "Thing 2"

For a reference point, see "Cat in the Hat".

I've heard that poppy seeds on bakery Danish can cause a trace of opioids in your blood, if tested. Can they also give you a little "buzz" if you eat a bunch of such baked-goods?

Highly dependent on the source of poppy seeds.

You'd have to eat a few ounces to get something near a meaningful dose.

Detectable - probable.
Buzzed -- depends on how much you can shovel into your piehole. Probably need a pound or so, and then properly extract the morphine; might be able to grind in food processor and then extract into a tea using a coffee machine. Not a safe exercise since you really have no idea just what you've extracted.......

FAILING OPIOID BLOOD TEST

According to the WADA Prohibited List, morphine is a threshold substance and WADA-accredited laboratories determine a test is positive for morphine when the level of morphine in the urine is greater than 1.3 micrograms/mL. In most cases, consumption of poppy seeds in foods will not cause a positive doping test, but it may be possible to exceed the morphine threshold by eating foods with poppy seeds.

GETTING HIGH

The Spanish poppy seed contains about 251 migrograms of morphine per gram of seeds, meaning one gram is about 0.025 percent morphine, Neufeldt wrote. A low-grade dose of morphine from, say, your local hospital would be about 10 milligrams.

So, you would need

10 milligrams / 0.251 milligram / gram poppy seed = 40 grams Spanish poppy seeds to get a medically relevant dose of morphine.

Thanks, guys, those were informative replies .

I only have two Danishes in front of me, and I don't need a buzz. Finding myself still here when I wake up in the morning is high enough .

And I never drive over any speed limit , so I doubt I'll ever get pulled-over and have to submit to a sobriety test, not that I would mind - it's always nice to say hello to one of the people who help keep our society in one piece. (I usually wave when a state trooper or local police officer drives by.)

If you ate enough of those to have a real impact, you'd probably either be at the ER from GI distress or you'd simply explode.

I wonder why Monty python's, Mr creosote, Full version, does not show Mr. Creosote's walk to the L'Elegance?
Mr. Creosote enters the L'Elegance:=> https://youtu.be/-ieNEtkQOiw

Edit 1: Corrected "C'Elegance" to "L'Elegance" in two places after Arthur P. Bloom so kindly pointed out my error.
Edit 2: Giving Arthur credit for noticing spelling error noted in Edit 1.
Edit 3: Going back to explain why there were 2 edits in the "Edit" record.
