When we drove out to California 10 years ago we visited our old neighborhoods and the High schools we went to. both high schools look like minimum security prisons and houses in neighborhoods now have bars on the doors and windows with many having heavy duty fences around the front yards. Wasn't like that when we lived there.

Maybe Wayne can explain what is happening now that was different years ago. :?:

Oops, thank you Roy. I think I can fix that.

The fences are different. Media coverage is different. Media coverage fans the flames of desire for recognition. Young assassins are inspired by examples set by previous shooters. Fantasies of becoming famous are not against the law. Police cannot arrest someone for what they are going to do. The fences are placed around schools to protect the students. In the case of the damage to the Arizona Capitol building, same thing. The perpetrators are mimicking previous acts of violence, reading about themselves in the media and are famous among their friends.

In the mean time, the Arizona NMRA division is still looking for a place to ZOOM their summer meeting from.

Everyone zooms from their own home. No need for a large hall. Having a zoom meeting with an in person group defeats the purpose.

Just got a notice from HMGS that the November 2020 game convention Fall In! to be held at Valley Forge Casino Resort has been cancelled. Wow, that's pretty far out, but I guess the risk around organizing everything in such uncertain times is too great financially. Median age for these game conventions is probably ~ 45...doesn't bode well for Eastern TCA and York.

Exactly! No need for a "place" at all. NJ Div and Garden State did one last month (different service, but same idea) - 74 attendees.

That they think that they need a place indicates that they do not understand how to use Zoom.

In any case, Arizona is currently looking like a explosion hot spot point for the virus.
