Or your state roads. I live in Maryland on the eastern shore and travel frequently to Annapolis and Gibson Island. I can’t help but notice how poor our state roads are, and how they are no longer regularly maintained.

There are roads that are major thoroughfares that haven’t seen pavement north of 25 years. Potholes everywhere, ruts, cracks, metal plates, etc. not to mention the overgrown medians and general cleanliness of the road ways.

You’d think with covid and much less traffic that now would be the optimal time to address the conditions. I’m guessing that the Maryland government has either misappropriated or stolen the money to fix the roads .....can’t imagine such a thing. As a citizen with a relatively new vehicle, this is so maddening. Ok I’m done. What say you?

Repaving Rt. 70 between Hagerstown and Frederick......and tons of road work in VA. They've very much taken advantage of reduced traffic to get work done in VA.

North-central Maryland, the state roads seem to be in good shape. A few of the county roads could stand some work, and the streets here in town are tough to drive down without losing a few fillings. Whatever happened to the days when they raised the man-holes when repaving? Some of them are deeper than potholes.

I will agree the mowing intervals seem to be getting a bit long (along with the grass).

Last week i traveled 301 south. from Delaware to Richmond. I found it to be a pleasant ride. A lot better than using 95 south from philly to Richmond. We ran into rain along the way. Still wasn't all that bad. A nice calm ride. I'm pretty sure this will remain my go to route from now on. I have grown to hate I95.

The worse part of 95 is south of the DC beltway to 2/3rd's of the way to Richmond. That stretch is one of the worse in the country.

The rest of it between DC and Philly is just is just boring. I took Rt 40 for a good bit one trip; slower, but interesting. 301 is way out of my way east....

In Calif. the Communist rammed through with no input from the voters a 12 cents gas tax and car registration went way up to repair roads. Every cent goes instead to public employee unions pensions.

Pretty sure you don't understand what Communist or Communism means.

Its more of a dictatorship when they ram taxes down your throat.

Pennsylvania has a pretty hefty tax on gasoline, but I can recall fifteen or twenty years ago, road conditions were getting precarious in south-central PA. Two decades on, things are much better now. If you want nice stuff, you gotta pay for it. That concept seems lost on many Americans.

Nothing wrong with paying for it. Pa’s turnpike made a profit for years. It did well and they Maintained the roads. Congress then dipped into that profit for their pension. Now the pa turnpike is short on funding.

Yes, lots of bridges in PA were listed as dubious and those cost ridiculous amounts now.

I noticed weeds growing out of the east bound span jersey walls on the Chesapeake bay bridge today. It would probably take the Sierra Clubs approval to give them a little spritz of round up.
