So I got the camera ready, and was going to take some builders photos of the "blocked out" model - as soon as I got the camera ready, it started to rain. I then took a couple iPad photos on the kitchen table, after coaxing the blind kitty in out of the rain, and tried to edit it enough so you can see where I am headed with this thing.

It will never be a world-class model - just a source of entertainment for a couple evenings, and maybe it will be in good enough shape so whoever winds up with it can make it at least run. Tender is a different project - the AN tender awaits.

Six years ago - so time to enliven this forum with some re-run photos.
I just converted a Lobaugh Pacific frame to a Harriman Ten-Wheeler configuration, then got to wondering if indeed I need another 4-6-0. Answer - probably not. But now that I look at it, that All Nation conversion is going to get an SP cab - maybe even sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, here are some re-runs. My first Ten-Wheeler was an attempt at SP 2355, a T-32 now preserved in a park near Phoenix. It does not have a totally correct boiler taper, and the rods are simply modified rails, and worst of all the motor is in the firebox, meaning this one can haul four cars on a good day.

I should note that Bob Stevenson has provided a lifetime supply of check valves - I really should put a pair on this thing. They get painted red.

The incorrect taper is aft of the steam dome - the top should slant down toward the cab. As you will see, it is reasonably dramatic on some of these
SP locomotives.

The T-32 had 68" drivers, adequately simulated in 17/64 by the Lobaugh Pacific castings. Most of the rest had 63", which I simulate with 66" drivers of several different types. I have four Ten-Wheelers not of Harriman lineage, and I have not made up my mind what will go on top of my latest mechanism.
