SD7/SD9 fuel tank breather parts

I think most of the "usual suspects" for parts have been identified. Maybe Keith Wiseman, and a daily "search" on Evilbait. Apart from that, maybe computer printing. There is a guy on the OGR board who made (or had made) ATSF brass wigwags (I think his tag is "Laidoffsick") who might be able to give you insights on how to get stuff made. He was also selling them on the auction (Ebay). Maybe inquire on the Yahoo brasslocobuilders List for methods to produce stuff for yourself. Ask Turner how he would make them.

I had a rather lengthy reply written up but, apparently, it didn't go through.

There are two Steam Drains listed in the PSC catalog.

They are;

PSH-4353 (.075")
and
PSH-4412 (.090")

I used my 3.1 catalog and these were shown on page 235.

Thanks very much. No wonder I could not find it. They are listed as part of the Booster engine plumbing. Page 85 in the pdf version of catalog 3.1.

Very nice TW-8. Any chance of a side view of the whole thing?

Thanks Bob. The TW-8 was built from a Iron Horse Models kit (PSC) with revisions.

Same deal as the air dryer a couple years ago. If you need this part drawn and have data, I can work up a 3d model for printing a casting master or straight use as is.

I still have the baggie of dryers on my new workbench waiting for the time to tackle more of those builds. Wasted 2 hours today on house plumbing issues. In any case, I appreciate it. I don't have any data on the breather at this time. How's your SW build going? Figured it wasn't worth it at this time to pursue your SW castings.

I am going to call Bill tomorrow and if he says I'm SOL, then see what I have sitting in my parts boxes and wire bags and go from there. Brian is right, should be some easy relatively easy, but not sure I have the elbows in a large enough size.

I may throw together a post over on the diesel detailers and see if any of those guys have drawings.

If you are bored, I was looking for something else:

Early IGLOO water cooler. A bit of intricate detailing on it. Large wire handle can be done with .012 brass wire or similar or molded in folded down.

About 20" tall and 11" wide. Lots of photos of one I'd want here:

These even made a stand on SOU 44T's for these things on the deck.

I note, in passing, that we are in the Summer doldrums, with very little to chat about except outrageous eBay offers. Almost the same on NK.
So Charlie, I assume your locomotive was the feature on OST? Very nice work.

Anyone have an idea what the width was for an SD9 handrail stanchion?

Looks like 2 inches to me.

Jim has some measurements from other units... 2.3"

I measured the sunset model at .057" which translates to 2.732" 1:1.

I have some other stuff to compare with, but yea, figured someone might have access to this measurement, so might as well ask.
