Managed to pick up yet another of these cars.....

But, infinitely more fun to be had here:

Needs a bit of cosmetic touch-ups and a few bits & bobs straightened here & there; add trucks with metal wheelsets & maybe sneak a bit of weight inside - all doors operate nicely. Other than that, a nice & solidly built car.

Anybody know who ran the Potomac Valley RR?

Please remember to show us the restored/revised cars.

Maybe you could also show us the process.

Is this a quiz for us or do you not know the answer and are hoping somebody else does?

The latter, RK. Was just wondering if anyone might have known who had the PVRR in their basement.

The Potomac Valley was the name of the O scale layout in the old Hagerstown Fairgrounds building belonging to the Hagerstown Model Railroad Club. It has been gone now for many years. I still have some PV decal sets they used to sell and an ANderson Gondola that I lettered with a set of these decals.

Thanks, Joe! I thought with a road name like PV that it might be "local".

William Edson has Potomac Valley listed as a real railroad in his book "Railroad Names".

Does not surprise me that there was such. Fortunately not much to do to put this car to rights. What surprised me most was that I got it for ~$20.

Of course. Stalled a bit right now building a chicken coop to go behind one of the houses on my layout to house a flock of chickens that I apparently painted and had stored away.

Mainly cosmetics, a bit of paint here and there, had to rebuild on of the wire doors, add a bit of missing underbody framing, air hoses, and trucks with metal wheelsets - a nice car to add to the roster.

Rufus,

Looking good! Reminds me a bit of some of the old PRR MOW stuff, which are among my favorites.
