Apparently, the engine interested John White, too:

Good drawings halfway down that first page. Those wheels, with their straight spokes, should be easy to make in brass.

I can see why you'd want the Jenny Lind:

There's also an ebook available on that one.

I have a copy of White's monograph on the Pioneer.

It's nice to have a copy of the relevant drawings on your computer, so they can be manipulated, re-scaled, measured accurately using pixels, etc.

Yup! I'd be happier if I had a printer that would handle 11 x 17 paper, but I have a friend that does have one.....

But, I've got a long list of other projects in the queue,

Phase one is complete. Good news is it looks more postwar. Unfortunately, when putting the bell stanchion on it cracked in two places (cheap repro). All of them are cheap repros which were three different colors, so I sprayed each one a bright gold.

The change:

After finally getting some inspection time and taking things apart, the engine really is a POS. My example had super glue all over the cab (even though I can't find where super glue would be used). Generally quality of materials used is unbelievably cheap. I would not recommend this set.

Only a postwar set delivers the level of craftsmanship we seek.
The hours of apprenticeship spent on a small scale line are richly rewarding - The Lionel Corp.

Sorry to hear your replacement parts are so shitty. Didn't Lionel have the parts available? Where was the superglue on the cab (inside, or out)? Specifically, how do the materials differ from their PW counterparts?
