It's a beautiful crisp clear Fall night down south. Sitting under the maple tree out front with a cold ale on a wooden bench. The quarter moon is shedding just enough light through the yellow and orange leaves of the tree to give the illusion of sitting beneath a golden canopy. Man, it's beautiful. I wish you hobo's were here to partake.

And I would join you, Petey. Sittin' on the porch with Jon, sippin' a beer, and watching Autumn through the leaves in the moonlight. Could not be better than that.

Here we are having rain! Feeling a sigh of relief at being over the anniversary of last year's troubles with fire, but it's never really over unless we have a soaking fall and winter. Unfortunately, that just starts it all over as everything grows and becomes fuel in the following season.

Time to head to the train room and figure out what to do about a broken driver on a cab forward. I ran it through a section of track that was OK for the articulation (it's a LionMaster, not the real big one) but banged the driver against some of my "scenic" improvements. My gun, my bullet, and my foot. Ouch. Don't want to send it all the way back to Lionel for a non warranty repair, but there are precious few resources locally to fix such things. Everything is intact, except for a small, (judging by the other side), anodized pin that joins a flexible junction. It busted out and is nowhere to be found. These kind of problems are good to deal with on a Fall evening. I don't mind, and would rather work on that than worry about politics or the economy.

Y'all take care and have a restful sleep in the camp. I'll stoke the fire one last time so we have some heat as you doze off.

Received a call from my brother-in-law in Beaver Falls Pa. and he said in his news paper there was an article about #90 of the Strasburg RR. He said it was an interesting article about how much they paid for #90 and how much it cost to restore her. He also said that since they restored her that they have run her for about 400,000 miles. When I get the article that he is sending I will post the facts here or maybe even post it on here.

So you admit to having one of the little beasts too? Did you convert yours to nuclear power like I did mine?

Since the conversion, I keep breaking drive train parts also.

Just kidding about anything breaking. It did squeak for a few laps until I realized that it was shipped dry and had to be lubricated before use.
