Atlas O PRR Position Signals, a set of four, Tramp. I will install them during my holiday time off.

We had new hardwood floors installed this Fall, so the standard gauge Commodore and Leland Monorail are resting in the garage until foam pads for the track arrive. How long is it before scratches are considered "patina"? I have been promised a week of floor running once I get the pads. I enjoy that as much as the layouts.

Both girls are down from SF and LA and at home. We have had a houseful until today, Christmas. It was good to spend a rainy Christmas day and just be with family and hang out. Without the other relatives, neighbors, friends, co-workers, and whatever else.

Daisy and Tramp, the tree is just exquisite.

I am still doing a couple of hours of work each day (it's 24/7 in India. Israel, and China among the heathens and there is no end of opportunity for their mischief.) Other than that, I have a good part of the day off for 1 1/2 weeks and plan to spend time with Jahan, rest, bike ride, and run/work on trains.

As I think about the writers of that movie clip,they either knew, or had consulted some old heads, to reflect the attitude of the old timers, and I know for a fact knowing old "steam heads" felt that way, The "old man's" perspective on the Big Boy steam technology, he couldn't possably imagin anything beyond what he had experienced!,,,,,,,sure gave the kid hell over thinking otherwise Huh!!!!
I knew as a kid several old men back in 1958 and 59 when steam dissappeared around here in Indiana, they quit the railroad and found work somewhere else!
There longing for the life they knew as a "Real railroaders" and the times they spent working on and around K4's T1's M1's J's was to them very much like an old dear friend dying and leaving them all alone.
They never described it that way exactly, but the fact that it was almost always the formost thing they talked of in the late 60's and 70's still spoke volumes of what was really in there hearts!
It was more than a "living" or a "job" to them,,,

I remember in the 50's seeing, out in the Mojave Desert, long lines of steam locomotives with no connecting rods sitting on the Purdy Company siding waiting for the scrapper's torch. The saddest sight I had ever seen up to that time.
