Looks like the Donner Pass, Tramp...watch your back when you head over for those pancakes.

Looking forward to Spring myself...the Sprite has not seen sunlight in nearly eighteen months. I miss seeing that little cheese-grater grille...I hope I'm not too fat to get behind the wheel.

They still haven't hired my replacement, and just 36 calendar days remaining...this isn't going to end well. I can feel a contractor gig creeping up on me...

Ah, Healey...

If you don't fit, I'll wear it. Grin!

It's so pretty...

And the right colour, too!

After years of railing against just such arrangements, it ticks me off that I might be compelled into taking that path. With thirty-three years invested, I'd hate to see the work and the staff suffer (which is probably what my soon-to-be former taskmasters are banking on). We'll have to see how it plays out.

So anyhoo, Rufus, are we getting some more white stuff this weekend? I think if we get an inch I'm rolling out the Ariens just so I can say I used it...

When I leave there won't be any staff left to worry about. All of the junior folks will be long gone by then and my 2 seniors are leaving when I leave. I'm already arranging to turn some of my lab space over to other folks so it'll be their problem...

Seems unlikely........but Sun night.....seems maybe. Hope for a lot so I can stay home and build models.

And, Tramp, apparently you can expect a layer of ice atop all that snow in place, prepared for and held in place by subzero temps beginning tonight. Can you just stAy in and give up?

My cousin's mother ran out of the firewood we had cut last Sept and then stacked inside the garage already and she really can't get to the pile and lug more up the hill. Now she's burning oil. Hope she can get some help from the Amish on that otherwise that's where I'll be headed in a few days.

Not my MG. It was at the local fancy invitation only Concourse parked between an Alfa 6C1750 and a leather bodied 29 Bentley.

Sat. 70 Sun. 74 Mon.71 They were forcasting rain for today but they the TV just said the big storm in southern Oregon and northern Calif will fizzle out by the time it gets here. I’m dissapointed, this happens all the time. There is a big snow storm in the sierras which is encouraging as thats where we get our water, rain here is to green things up in the spring and wash away the dust.

When I see an array of vintage cars like that (I wonder if that green touring-car in the background is a Pierce Arrow or Packard, or?) I am thankful they each made it out alive from their respective time periods, even though I know I'll never own one. I'm happy for those who own them and happy for the society that preserved and still cherishes them.

The perfect antique car for me would be the 1962 Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible, to me, an example of refined good taste, elegance, and real class; plus, a whole lot of fun. When I was a teenager and my mother and I were standing in a Lincoln-Mercury showroom, I was just moments away from convincing her to buy a white-with-red-interior one, but she chickened-out and went for a  Falcon(!!!!!!!) Oh the shame of it! I was fit-to-be-tied and asked her not to appear on my college campus in it. She obliged me. Do I look back in shame at my materialism. Not at all. If I ever win a lottery, I'll be out there looking for that Lincoln.

The last several days of bitter cold (down to the mid single digits at night) has not deterred our friends here:

Now that I see them together, I can tell by both colour and behaviour (they were having a quick shag in the drive before adjourning for a morning meal  ) that we have not just casuals but a working pair.

We are to have a thaw today, up to 50F perhaps, then a spot of rain as the storm heading into New York and New England brushes us on the way.

It ain't over yet, but Take Heart!

Murph, mate

My dad always wanted an MG T-series and never fulfilled that dream even when it would have been a fiscal snap to do it. Now he's almost 90 and that dream has slipped past; I don't think I heard it vocalised more than once or twice in 40 years until this last year. Now, it is an oft-stated regret.

I don't want to repeat that myself, so I'll get a Spridget or some other roadster when the savings warrant, and the saving is ongoing to that end. A good 60's Connie isn't that expensive a car, to be honest; not like its a Corvette or a muscle-car. Go for it, mate!

The kid sent me a few pics from Albany today...looks like a dreary place in winter (these are color pics):

They got a foot-and-a-half last week, and they're in for about the same this week. I feel for him...

And yes, Sarge, something's up. A flock of cedar waxwings blew in this weekend and cleaned all of the fruit off the smaller of our two crab-apple trees...those guys don't usually show up until late February/early March. Two hours and they were gone, and the tree was bare.

I'm worried about Tramp.

This one? Five thousand pounds of solid steel, 430 cu-in engine, 11 miles per gallon (going downhill.)
