I like the trees in the street showed they must have had a forward thinking mayor.
Apart from the telephone poles/wires and unsealed road/footpath I see scenes like that in Australia.

In our area and it is not a wealthy area by any means everything is underground.
Getting back to the last picture I thought those wires were for the telephone are you saying they are for electricity if so sorry I made a mistake.

Most town "Cornet Bands" seem to always have a few teenagers with the older men.
Cornet bands, which are brass bands, also usually seem to have a piccolo which is a woodwind.
Had to have the high notes.
The older man in front with the cornet is probably also the conductor/leader.
Every town also seemed to have at least one band.

That whole scene would make a wonderful vignette on a layout. Wow. Esp. noteworthy are the sidewalk; shorty stop sign; dirt roadway w/ weeds; parked vehicles; not to mention the building! Add in several (my particular modeling patois) human and pet/livestock/horse(?) figures, and voila - action!

Also of interest to me is that there are no vehicles parked at-curb in front of the hotel. I have concluded from that an aversion on their part to having the view from those benches blocked by contraptions. Eh?

It's clearly a bit later in time than the vast majority of the cards that i normally post here, but I liked the scene as being representative; another that fits better with your modeling era interests as well.

That sign was, more probably than not, yellow with black lettering and not reflective unless the word "STOP" had cat-eyes.
