Nice fountain...you rarely see those anymore. Frederick has a nice one that's still used (last I drove by). The one in Westminster was removed except for the base, and replaced by a simple copper ring. It's not too impressive.

Where did the CVRR interconnect with the Western Maryland? Shippensburg? The WM ran a branch out to the Cumberland Valley in the late 1860's or early 1870's. Since they exchanged traffic with the Reading, I presume there was a junction somewhere.

Interconnect? The forced the WM to build a bridge over the CVRR trackage rather than let the WM even cross their line,

Between Chambersburg and Waynesboro.....



They and at least 2 other lines did meet in Hagerstown at the main station there. Maybe Shippensburg though the P&R was also in the area and eventually the CVRR met up with the PRR and anybody else in Harrisburg.

I think the WM branch from Edgemont to Waynesboro/Chambersburg/Shippensburg was called the Baltimore & Cumberland Valley Railroad. I'm sure they connected to somebody at Shippensburg, just can't remember who. They also had a branch that ran to Williamsport (MD) linking with the C&O Canal. I've got a really old copy of one of Scharf's books around here someplace...I'll find it.

Edit::The Baltimore & Cumberland Valley RR (WM) connected with the Philadelphia & Reading RR (Reading) at Shippensburg.

Not bad. I'm not referring to that nag she is on! Send her over! The last time I was on a piece of horseflesh was when Mary Ann talked me into it. Hadn't gone too far when that nag let out two farts and proceeded to roll over me in a mud pit. There I was, face down in the crick with that da::ed thing just laying there. Finally got him off of me and WALKED back to the car. Mary Ann was giggling like crazy and wouldn't stop. Got back home and got the hose out to clean up before I went inside. She was still cackling away. I warned her then turned the hose full on her! Dang! Did she ever look good soaked thru her shirt! I vowed to never, ever get in/on anything without a throttle!
