The CVRR Pioneer and combine at a railroad festival in the 20's or 30's?



Engine is now at the B&O museum in Baltimore and the combine is at the PRR museum in Strasburg. They are slowly getting closer to getting reunited..............

I think there were many orphan trains over a period of years that ma have covered various parts of the country.
Not sure about this but seem to recall reading about the trains many [60+] years ago.

Probably the PRR museum since the CVRR was ultimately a PRR owned RR prior to total absorption after WW1. For a while the Pioneer was in Allentown and prior to that in DC at the Smithsonian.

PRR donated it to the Smithsonian in 1961; pretty sure it is just on loan to the B&O.

I visited the appropriate hall there in the late 1950s, late 1960s and the B&O in @ 1980s.
May have seen it in both places. Visited the RR Museum of PA in its first five years and
again in 2004. Would like to see them again but not likely.

It moved to the B&O more recently - you probably saw it in the 60's at the SMithsonian - same room as the SRR 2-8-0

Yes, but I just don't associate Pa with tobacco as a crop. Probably was back then..... I just see that a bit further South.

Nonetheless, an interesting building with the skylights for the working areas; the split level side door entrance for unloading / loading, a nice stone foundation, neat trim work, gutters and downspouts....
