That's actually illegal in most states since bicycles are overseen by the motor vehicle codes of the state and all laws that the operation of an automobile apply to the operation of a bicycle.

The police in DC and VA are starting to enforce those laws now.

And you have to walk your bike across the Geo. Wash. Bridge, on the sidewalk , but I imagine that is more for the practical reason of not getting blown overboard.

Oh, and btw , just to demonstrate how numb-skulled I could be as a younger guy, I ran out of gas on a motorcycle (who does that?!) traveling to Nj from NY and had to dismount and run-push it all the way out. My passenger ran along that maintenance trolley way. Never did that again. Ya think?!

Where do I feel safe? Not here.
Tonight, I re-saw "BACKCOUNTRY" movie. It REMINDED ME OF A FAVORITE haunt, roaming the hills and forests of "Upstate" New York. I have been debating whether to return there for another long romp, this Summer.

Never again. Not even viewed from the windows of my trusty SUV. "Backcountry" convinced me of something of which I had been already suspect - that I was nuts to even be there in the first place! :(
(Please, excuse me for showing some of these shots again, but you see, I just re-vowed not to be where I do not belong, again. Ever.)
Signed,
olChickenfart :?

Murph aka OCF,
Why did you watch this movie?
Have you seen Deliverance?

I watched it to teach myself a lesson, graphically. The movie won.
Yes, I saw "Deliverance," but that seemed to have a different kind of predator than what I might find roaming the hilltop forests of Cortland, NY, along Brake Hill Rd.

As good ol' Wayne affirmed the last time I brought this subject up, mocking me for my aluminum baseball bat and wasp spray alleged/imagined "protection" from Black Bears that might suddenly decide to say hell-o, I was deluding myself that I could do the slightest thing to, in fact, protect myself, short of carrying a gun (which I do not own, YET). So, I needed a dose of reality, which Wayne tried to give me previously. This movie gave me the message, thoroughly.

You haven't been in the deep woods of the south.

Just remember, they're more afraid of you than you are of them. Also, pepper spray and little bells are your friend, unless it's a grizzly of course.
