Cars - junk. New Haven? Icken or Alexander, so who knows what collectors will do. Like Dave, mine arrived compliments of a fan, and I believe them to be Watty House's models way back when. A hundred bucks might be appropriate if one were not "collecting."

Two of the cars appear to be uninsulated.
Good news is the coupler pockets have not been cut out.
Mine were free or 5 bucks apiece, including the cast gondola.
Certainly not the asking, but I am certain someone will buy them.

Bevel gears (axles shimmed to keep mesh?) and the HUGE horizontal gears above?

Hundred bucks for a candidate for new drives is being positive, anyway.

The very high sell price of this particular model is attributable to the fact that it is an Icken. It's the first one I have ever seen outside catalog photos. The EY-3 boxcab was listed in the Icken catalogs for a while but the price was half again the cost of the Alexander. The two versions shared the same casting set, but the drives and the details (such as pantographs) were different. Given the no-obvious-added-value of the Icken versus the less expensive Alexander, it is not surprising that the Icken did not sell all that well (if their rarity is any evidence). I wasn't sure I would ever see one, so as a doorstop history buff it was cool to see this listed.

What intrigues me, is the idea the seller thinks I would care WHAT other stuff the auction items (referring to the original post) were purchased with! A rather oblique way of stating the items were not brass.

Maybe my next auction should state: 5 pounds of cow dung, purchased with 4 bars of gold, NOT gold.

Hello Bob very nice Icken piece here is an ad for it in MR Oct 1947 .....Fred seemed to try and market a high quality engine,..well below his normal entry price in the 0-1 .

Jim did a wonderful article about the early Icken/ Alexander box cabs ... O scale trains #76 ...

Different drives etc ....

I'm very happy with my double motor Alexander model .... fully capable to pull down any wall
