Well, it's official, we just got our premium increase notice for the renewal of our company plan. 42% increase for our plan and we had a good loss ratio per our agent. Son's family plan went up from $1156 to $1641 a month. Our agent is livid and says you can't even negotiate with the companies any more, as they know we have very limited choices, but he is going out in the market again to see what we can do.
I know many blame the insurance companies, but this is really nothing more than having to pay for those who don't pay or who pay only a portion. They're also reducing SS benefits so others can get this money. Who others, what others, why others?
I know pharmaceutical companies are making a ton too, but I get tired of paying for others and having to offer my employees less coverage for more money.

Did his agent offer to lower his commission? After all the agent got a 42% raise also.

Re: Health Insurance Premium Increase
I'm sure there are more than one reason for this incredible hike and I'm also sure greed has to do with part of it. But, historically we've had single digit or possibly low double digit increases, but this 42% increase isn't due to corporate greed.
Someone has to pay for those who don't. Someone has to pull the cart, so others can ride. I'm just getting tired of having no say in who gets to ride. I see a lot of freeloaders in the cart and this is not just about health insurance, it's about people working the system to get something for nothing and the government allowing it.
