The vet had to put signs up about requiring leashes after women got quite violent about how their precious Muffy couldn't possibly wear a collar.

Pretty sure that's state law. Just call animal control about a dog w/o a leash in the future and let the fun begin

My standard response has been, "Oh, but I sue. Keep your dog controlled and keep your house." They seem to have been getting the point.

An autopsy confirmed a 22-year-old Virginia woman was mauled to death by her own pit bulls, ending a two-month long investigation by local authorities into the gruesome death of Bethany Lynn Stephens.
The medical examiner found defensive wounds on Stephens’ hands and arms from “trying to keep the dogs away from her,” and evidence of animals chewing on her face, torso and arms after she died, according to the autopsy report.

Here is a happy dog story. The mother of this child saw me with my ridgeback puppy and told about her's. She also mentioned her dog was used as a witness in court. She claimed "her dog ran up to the creep on the witness stand and barked and crawled his head off" Ridgebacks rarely bark. The judge convicted this guy on a dogs testimony.
These days Rocky the Rhodesian Ridgeback sleeps on Laura Staples’s bed. He’s not only a big dog (116 lbs.) but a big bed hog, and Laura sometimes winds up on the floor. But after the horrifying events of Aug. 30, 1998, Rocky can do whatever he wants.

I have had to break up fights between my mother's cats and dogs which were significantly larger when they invaded our yard. I have also had to intervene, very carefully, between them and raccoons. Don't underestimate the courage or devotion of a well cared for house cat Murph, they can be downright dangerous when they feel it necessary.

A neighbors Pit Bull tore a 4" patch of skin from my Border Collie, numerous calls to the LA dogcatcher nothing happened. Then the same Pit Bull nearly killed my neighbors dog again numerous calls to the dog catcher nothing happened. Together we visited the dog catcher in person twice nothing happened.
WE won a hearing in downtown LA 30 miles away and won still nothing happened. Then the dog attacked another neighbors dog finally the dog told the neighbor to get the dog out of LA or they would take it.
