I wish I had taken note of which major news channel I was watching, but I channel-surf quite a bit and only stopped there for a minute or two.It may have been WABC or WCBS.

Whichever it was got it wrong and a few seconds of fact checking would have addressed that deficit. This might also reinforce my contention that trusting network news for facts is done at the risk of the watcher and that a healthy skepticism should be cultivated by the viewer.

Unfortunately, network news and social media is how the majority are getting their news. And they believe everything.

Sadly that has become acceptable -- it's easier to feed at the trough of choice and just believe what you are told and what you like to hear as opposed to thinking for yourself. So much easier to control a population that blindly believes instead of thinks.....

The thing I find ironic is how the media is trying to convince the people that the Russians somehow swayed the election, when in fact our own media has done more to sway the elections as to how they want it to be.

The media has been a tool of the political parties of this country since its inception; all anyone has to do is to recognize that and think for themselves. What is not wanted is a population that is willing and capable of thinking independently.

I don't recall seeing Clinton or Comey pimping their comic books on Fox, maybe they were on CNN. The comic news network.

Not being chastised. The problem with the media is that they are presenting opinion as fact and they slant what they present based on their political bias. It's really hard to trust any of it.


Anyone remember when NBC was doing the story on the Chevy pickups with the side tanks the supposedly explode on impact. They couldn't get it to happen so they rigged explosives in the tank to make it look like it exploded on impact. Someone slowed the video down to slow motion and noticed it exploded before impact.

And then there was the Dan Rather CBS letter about Bush they presented 1 week before the election. It was supposed to be a copy of the real letter they obtained except someone on the internet noticed it was done on a computer and not a typewriter. That one cost Dan his job.

The problem is six corporations own all the media you see hear and read. Corporate entities stick together so long as theres money involved just try and defy the petro dollar and see what happens

So, where exactly would you recommend I go? There have been volumes, here, on MTJ, of criticism and scoffing at sources I have mentioned, so I am urged to ask that question. WHERE do you recommend and personally go for pristine, objective news and information?

And where exactly do YOU, sir, recommend I go for information which will help poor me become more capable of "thinking independently"? What are your sources of information that enable you to think for yourself so admirably and omnisciently?

I can only speak for myself as to how I go about it. I gave up watching TV years ago. I do rely on the internet, ??? You just have to do a lot of research in the process. All the news media have websites where they present the news as they see it. All of us have opinions about how we see things. I do a lot of searching for info on Google.

Most of the news sites when they post an article have a comment section at the end so I do spend time reading those comments. The big problem with that is you have to wade through a lot of trolls with their BS to see anything meaningful.
