I'm glad we're thinking the same way. Why don't we see how your thread does for a few weeks, since it's already a going concern here? If it flies, I can point to its success, as justification for a new sub-Forum.

Several minor and maybe a few major points if I may. Actually I'm going to write them even without anybodys permission.
This topic was started by Rufus with a beautiful structure that he could have saved for the magazine that he edits. Murph added what I would call items
of scenery many of which he has shown before. Both made major points with their contributions to the topic. Both have also been a major influence in
how my layout was sceniced. Rufus, Murph and several others have such wonderful looking layouts that if one is not inspired it must be that one did
not really look.
Some years ago when I didn't get the answers I needed from the OGR and CTT forums I found MTJ where I got answers.
One of the things I liked then, and still do, is the simplicity of the layout of this forum. Three rail, two rail and other stuff. Not hard to find anything or
post in the wrong place. Somebody on this forum has the answer to your question. I do not see a need for a separate sub forum. Forums that have
regular posts do not go away.

I think your bossy-boots "contribution" has once again just about turned me off (and not just I) from proceeding with any further input in this thread. Your negativity gets so tiring. Do you have anything positive to contribute to this conversation, or is it just more fun to instigate and be obstructive ?

So Rufus, you're gettin' a new organ or piano for the church, (very nice!), so what will the adjoining module look like to make the delivery. Extra men to unload, maybe on the side or to the front? At any rate, it looks good. BTW, what is the footprint of the module in square inches?

Adjacent to the church, now in place, is a barber shop that is set back from the street so there is a good open area for unloading, etc. and to recruit a few warm bodies from for help at the town church.

BTW, what is the footprint of the module in square inches?

About 10" x 16", and probably less - the church that the kit built was too long and out of proportion to my eyes vs. those one sees in the small Pa towns/villages, so I ran it through the band saw and lopped off ~25% of it. That also let it fit in better into my layout and limit its dominance over any other structure.

Rufus, That is a really nice interpretation of that kit. It's is very handsome, and I especially appreciate that Lutheran red door, announcing the "True Gospel" is being shared there. At least, that's what I was told red doors meant on Lutheran churches, told to me by the father of a girl I dated in the 9th grade. He was a Lutheran minister, with his own church in our community, no less.

Here's my interpretation of such an edifice, but as you can see, what interests me greatly is getting a whole neighborhood detailed-in around such a building, so I gave mine a parsonage, and a street fair our front. I plant foliage with tweezers and dental pix, for example, little by little (pun intended ) and take quite some time to get the entire shebang fleshed-out.

Here's my interpretation of such an edifice, but as you can see, what interests me greatly is getting a whole neighborhood detailed-in around such a building, so I gave mine a parsonage, and a street fair our front.

I do have the entire "neighborhood" surrounding the church completed - that series was just of the individual unit - it's fitted into the layout fully integrated into my version of the village of Lemasters of 100 years ago........

Same as I -- all the individual plants and shrubs, stick by stick, get "planted". I have a "tool kit" of scenery/landscaping supplies and each unit gets done up while on a lazy susan so I can see all of it 360 degrees and from every angle. Many of my structures/scenes have stuff going on behind then that's barely visible to the casual observer. Whenever I post the next few structures, you'll see those.

Regarding backyards and the unseen, I am the same way! Here, I'll show a few front, side, and backyards that got detailed to the max, even though they might not be seen close-up, if at all, by the casual layout visitor/observer...
