HONDO, If it takes, as you say, a month and a half to get here, that will put them here for Christmas (!)

The time frame was per the CBS article. They said it was a thousand mile journey to Calif from where they started.

And now Hurricane Willa, a Category 4 storm, threatens Mexico's Pacific coast. Don't know if this will effect them or not.

My point was that arrival at that particular time of year will likely have some particular consequences for them, amidst the American people during such a holiday period. We shall see.

ARRIAGA, Mexico -- Several thousand Central American migrants turned down a Mexican offer of benefits if they applied for refugee status and stayed in the country's two southernmost states, vowing to set out before dawn Saturday to continue their long trek toward the U.S. border.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced what he called the "You are at home" plan, offering shelter, medical attention, schooling and jobs to Central Americans in Chiapas and Oaxaca states if they applied, calling it a first step toward permanent refugee status. Authorities said more than 1,700 had already applied for refugee status.

Apparently Mexico is not offering enough freebies that these people can get in the US.

Migrants who say they are fleeing violence and persecution in Central America are, in fact, simply taking advantage of “loopholes” in the U.S. immigration system for economic reasons. Generous welfare benefits in many states are creating a “magnet for illegal immigration".

Liberals/Democrats will be waiting in the Southern border to greet them with open arms and applications for Driver's Licenses Medicaid Card, Food Stamps and Welfare as a small thank you for their future precious votes.
