I'm not sure if it's just the videos or they are actually different. I do know mine is the 606 and Jake's is the 611. Whether Lionel actually did different whistles for these is doubtful but you never know. I hope to have mine stretch its legs on a floor layout this weekend. and I'll try to shoot more video.

I think they are in fact different whistle's. I listened to a video of another 606 model to confirm. It sounds like the 606 engines had a recording of the more worn out Hancock 3 chime that 611 wore in the 1990's as it's got a bit of a raspy squeal to it. My 611 model sounds more like a clean Hancock 3 chime whistle.

Yes they are both correct as the recorded sounds are a Hancock 3 chime whistle, which is what the N&W J classes used. As whistle's aged and wore in however, two of the same type easily could have sounded different depending on how old they were. The one on Marty's engine was likely a recording of the whistle 611 wore in its first operating period as an excursion engine in the 1980's and 1990's as it was a bit more raspy than it should have been when new.
