Looks like a shot from the opposite end of the platform (I recognize that upturned drain-pipe looking thing).

A poling car is used to move cars on a parallel track. Place a long timber into a socket on the poling car. then stick it into a socket on the other car and giddy up. your now pushing a car on a parallel track. must of been a little hairy when the timber splinters.

The poles on a poling car are permanently attached and were to considered to be safer that the poles that would be inserted between sockets.

This station has always intrigued me. I presume it stood at the terminus of the Mont Alto Railroad, which I believe ran from a connection with the CVRR near Fayetteville, intended to serve the iron ore fields and furnaces that lie along this stretch of Pennsylvania between Chambersburg and Harrisburg. The Harrisburg & Potomac was another one, subsequently acquired by the Reading, eventually interchanged with the Western Maryland to form the Lurgan Subdivision. A lot of interesting RR history in this area.

Indeed it is! That little station to the right is just overflowing with detail.

Yes, that building is interesting. Looks like it may have been built in three sections at different times.
The larger part seems to be an elevator of sorts. I wonder what product?
The building on the left looks like a passenger station and further to the left barely seen may be a freight station.
