A few CVRR pictures and some other related pictures....2
Re: A few CVRR pictures and some other related pictures....2
I like the station, the gabled building behind it, and the flat top building with the light colored window frames catacorner across the intersection. There's a lot more of architectural interest in that picture, which I'll leave to others to point out.

If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.

Yup! Have to swing by next time I'm in Chambersburg to see what's still there now.

Was still probably better than a bucket brigade.

Horse harness pre-set, dropped onto horses, who responded immediately to the fire bell. Steam was raised on the way to the fire.
Near Baltimore: https://www.firemuseummd.org/ Splendid display of equipment.
Museum has a demonstration day with the steam pumpers, in June, as I recall. Close to many of you. The steam pumpers can shoot a stream amazingly high.

In so many of the enjoyable photos you have posted from that general circa, I have noticed the young men, and many of the older gents, posing with hands-on-hips, leaning on elbows, and with hats raked (avoiding any appearance of trying too hard, or being effete or pretentious?) Add to that their consistently being narrow-waisted and trim overall, and they seem to me to be a pretty spirited and athletically disposed segment of the population. We don't see many body-fat index busters, do we.

FWIW, the early motorcycle appears to say "INDIAN" and "New York". Do you know what the guys who started Indian look like?
P.S. The one on the left in your photo might be Oscar Hedstrom.

100 years ago we did not have the time to be a collective of couch potatoes sucking down high fructose corn syrup and fast food
