Good News For New York City

I think the best way to handle this is for the "gummit" just to take over everything and then they can tell everybody what they can do.

Heat pumps are not the most efficient.. When the temp gets down below a certain mark they switch over to induction. That consumes a lot more electricity.

My heat pump uses gas, for heating.

New York is doing away with fossil fuels. They will be switching over to electric.

If California follows in New York's foot steps you will have to change yours also.

But, but, aren't fossil fuels burned in the production of electricity? The answer to that question is why I have not been able to see the helpfulness of having electric-powered vehicles.

The dichotomy has seemed to me to be:
*get gasoline; burn fossil fuel.
*get electric charge for your vehicle; fossil fuel is burned to make the electricity.

My ears are open (well, technically it's my eyes that are open for...) and my mind is open. Educate me. I'm serious.

I posted this chart before so you can see how NY produces electricity. They get very little from renewables. They say they are going to shut down all fossil fuel power plants and all those buildings in the city will have to change over to electric heating and air conditioning. If so they are going to need a lot more electric power that they are producing now.

Are they going to build more dams or nuclear power plants. If not they better get to clinking on blanketing the state with wind turbines and solar panels.

Not all electricity is produced by fossil fuel use; the elementary school land about 20 miles from my place in PA is now a solar power farm.

The biggest impediment is the unwillingness to change. I have 8 acres that I could use for solar panels.

The parking garages around here now have several re-charging stations per level. someone is missing out on a franchise business.

Nuclear in this country was just beginning to move forward and then Fukushima happened and re-set the terror scale in that avenue. Until the US also changes its policy on recycling nuclear fuel, this option would seem on life support.

But, doing something that's all mine is more than sitting around doing nothing while wringing my hands over it all. There's far too much refusal to really consider options. I can't build a nuclear power plant, but my own solar farm is actually possible.

Each solar panel rack was considered a building/structure. To many buildings per lot size. I can remember his zoning hearing. Our zoning board's statements would have given a stand up comic years of material.
