We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe.

Now that is a bunch of dapper looking young men. And not one of them wearing a backwards ball cap...

Womelsdorf Pa.
I did a Google Maps street view walk through on High street and some side streets. Looked like High street was the main street through the town. Didn't see the old St Elmo hotel but I think it still exist under a different name.
This is a very nice old town. All the places look to be in very nice shape. Didn't see any trash or run down places. Apparently the folks that live there take a lot of pride in their community.

Talk about community ! It is very, very clear , from that photo, what folks valued in those days.
Nowadays, each of them would be nestled-down in front of their electronics, hen-pecking away, isolated and individualized.
For me, a balance of the two is life. And add family.

Somewhat sadly, that is a community/family of orphans.....and as much as most want to stereotype the younger generations as being the ones stuck nose down in their smartphones, I'm seeing that behavior in all generations with the older ones being far worse and ruder yet in public.

the Tressler Orphans' Home has an interesting history dating to 1867 when it was started.

(June 1st, 1869, there were 80 soldier orphans and 18 church orphans in the' Home)
I have the impression that it was started to accommodate the children who may have lost their parents during the Civil War.?

There were several Soldier's Orphanages in the area - I had posted several photo cards of the one in Quincy in the past.
