Got it. No sentiment ( ) nor nostalgia for days-gone-bye-bye, though, huh. Dats some coldazzshite, bro.

You're mixing two subjects here.

Your question did not ask about sentiment or nostalgia - it asked about how we recognized a bit of music from just a few notes. Not the same thing at all.

Simple reality; our brains are stuffed full of music that we recognize almost instantly since we heard it umpteen times. You recognize the 1812 Overture after what - 2 bars?

Still going to school, I am.
Sorry I asked. Really sorry.

...and on that note, if you will each permit,l recommend that you treat yourself to riding a wooden roller-coaster at an amusement park, this Summer, at least .

Of course, I am partial to Kennywood Amusement Park, in the Pittsburgh area , specifically, in West Mifflin. And while you are there you should allow yourself a ride on one of the beautiful , hand-carved horses of the Merry-go-round, too . :D

Murph,
I remember the coaster as a real huge thrill. I think I was just the minimum age or size or something to ride it.
Now that Merry-Go-Round.It was/is (?} a beautiful work of art.

It still exists, exactly in the same spot that it did when I was a boy. Each of the animals, including the horses, were hand-carved and painted and have been cared for lovingly for all these decades.

That last photo, of the Reading Fair, is so cool - I've never seen anything like it. A parking area for carts and buggies n' wagons, no less! :D

That long building in the background, do you suppose it is a barn, or a stable, or the rear of some kind of engine-house(!) ?

And, what are the things on the wall, or in front of the wall, of that building? They sort of look like pay phones.

I thought they looked like unglazed window openings, like one would see in a barn/stable; in fact, one on the far-right appears to be open, with its "shutter" swung open to the right of the opening.

Maybe for exhibits and competitions where folks would bring their prize livestock in for judging, and all that good stuff? Maybe also livestock that might getting sold at the fair that you could inspect, etc.? Been a while since I went to any of the county fairs in my end of PA but we also had other "exhibit halls" where the baked goods competitions, veg and canning, quilts and other related stuff would be on display.
