My mother earned one of her degrees online. When she had a test. She would sit in the local police office. One of the officers would certify her start and stop times. She would snap a few photos and send them of with her test. Our chief of police thought it was a hoot. The guy loved. It gave his ego a boast.

An Australian cafe has been inundated with fake negative reviews online due to an "inadvertent" coincidence on a high school English exam.

The state-wide exam in Victoria had featured a question involving a restaurant review of a fictitious coffee shop called the The Calmer Cafe.

After the test on Wednesday, students discovered a real cafe had the same name and began mocking it online.

None of the above. Kids will do and did this sort of thing for generations. Give kids an opportunity and they will take it - it's behavior linked to their level of maturity. Then again, some never do grow up.

Only victim is the cafe which should sue the school for damages and failure to exercise due diligence.

A new review of several studies shows the potentially harmful impact of social media use on teenagers. It confirms what many parents have long feared.

The results in the Canadian Medical Association Journal finds social media use is linked to mental distress, self-harm and suicide. More than two hours of social media use a day is associated with higher rates of depression and suicidal thoughts in girls.

According to the review, kids who spend less time socializing in person are more vulnerable, and easy access to information about how to commit suicide online increases risk. Carol Deely's 12-year-old son, Gabriel, took his life just over a year ago. Her organization, Gabriel's Light, helps promote safe technology use.

When I was in school not everyone had a telephone and very few had a TV so it sometimes took a while for everyone to hear about something stupid someone did instead of the seconds that it takes now. The extra time involved then could have allowed for "cooling off" and sane thinking instead of
insane thoughts.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is urging tech companies to take tougher action to battle fake news on the coronavirus.

The push comes as a representative from the WHO travelled to Silicon Valley to speak directly to tech firms about the spread of false information.

The WHO has labelled the spread of fake news on the outbreak an "infodemic".

Over 1,000 people have died as a result of the outbreak, which began in central China but has spread globally.

Andrew Pattison, digital business solutions manager, for the WHO said false information was "spreading faster than the virus".

Bogus claims that the virus was spread by eating bat soup or could be cured by garlic have already swept the web.

Will they be kind? Probably not. Humanity has been going downhill for a long time and social media only amplifies and facilitates what's already in existence

Look that the court upheld the conviction and sentencing of that girl that urged her boyfriend to commit suicide.

Then again, where are the parents when it's kids? More abdication of parenting.
