Do you like streetcars?

I rode a lot of trolleys as a kid - Baltimore and Philadelphia - some really old, a lot PCC. I don't collect model streetcars, but here is an auction of just about everything imaginable in the trolley world, O Scale. If plastic they are clearly marked. Photos are broadside, which is my favorite way of viewing trains in general. This is not an advertisement for the auction; just letting you know what one collector had when he/she croaked.

I love traction Bob thanks for the link. That collection is indeed wildly diverse. The Ontario, BC and Quebec roster are rarely seen modeled.

I love street cars, especially the freight motors and steeple cabs. No ultra wide radius necessary. Quentin of Q car was a super nice guy.

Bob, I was aware of the auction. After the 19% commission and overpriced shipping, costs can really add up. About to turn 59 and becoming existential about collecting/ accumulating more. Your approach to the hobby of building your own pieces is more satisfying in my opinion. I mean you cannot take this stuff with you when you pass on. I think that I’ll be saving my money for touring the Greek Isles.

That is an amazing and diverse collection of models. I've never seen or even realized there were that many trolley type models available in any scale, much less O scale. I grew up in St. Louis and KC as a young child and remember seeing some of those cars when we went downtown in the 50's. Wow!

It most likely stated it, but I missed it, but does anyone know who the collector was?

I guess the auction is closed - sales prices are well above estimates, especially for the streetcars! My spies tell me that they add on a hefty buyer's premium plus shipping and handling. And since often the buyers are really pro's, we might expect an influx of high priced streetcars on eBay - with more buyer's premiums disguised as seller fees.

They are nice streetcars! And starting salaries for college grads are rumored to be a hundred grand a year.

Sure happy my collection is more or less complete - all I have to worry about is the cost of airplane parts.

Shipping is really exorbitant by a company called Shipping Saint. Perhaps they should be called Shipping Satan. Yes the commission fees are high.

It seems the higher prices went to The Car Works pieces. Very surprised at the prices. The factory painted and powered pieces might have sold for a reasonable price.

The UP O scale models and turbines were bought very right, except for the 1st generation 8500HP. The trolley guys must have known the collector and known these were quality models as they appeared to bring good money............but I don't know much about trolleys.
