Hobo Jungle
Tramp, these people think I do not know how to cook. I went to the web to get a list of all of the things that have arrived and their description.
Kabab Koobideh: barbequed ground lamb or beef
Kabab Barg: barbequed lamb or beef
Dolmeh Baadenjaan: eggplants filled with ground meat, rice and herbs
Ghormeh Sabzi: exquisite dish made with various herbs, meat, black-eye beans and potatoes
Khoresht Fesenjaan: made with chicken, walnuts, pomegranate juice and sugar
Khoresht Ghaimeh: made with meat, split-peas, potatoes and limes
Loobia Polow: with rice, meat, green beans, and tomato paste
Zabaan: tongue with herbs
Del: sheep hearts with mushrooms, herbs and cheese
Maghz: fried brain with herbs
Aab Goosht-e Lappeh: with meat, split peas, limes, onions, turmeric and potatoes
Aab Goosht-e Baadenjaan: with meat, split peas, eggplants, turmeric and potatoes
When you walk into a Persian market, you get a concept of what is meant by variety meats. Nobody has brought this one. I couldn't deal with it.
Donbalaan: fried sheep testicles with eggs, bread crumbs, and parsley
And to think that some in other venues worry about scrapple.
Of course, courtesy demands that you act the witless starving male who would die of starvation without their help. After they leave, I am giving it away to neighbors, taking it to work, giving it to the girls at Jamba Juice.
My favorite is the one that only Jahan can make the way I like it.
Salad-e Olovieh: made with chicken, eggs, peas, carrots, dill-pickles, potatoes, and lime juice
Our Americanized name for it is Salad Olivia since we add chopped green olives. It is good on a hot summer evening after spending several hours in the refrigerator. Like a lot of things, it gets better the next day.
Jahan does bring me caviar from the Caspian, but my favorite "What did you bring me" coming home treat is truffles. They are dirt cheap in Iran. It is a chore to pack them so that they don't mold even for the 23 hour trip from there to here, but there is nothing quite like them when they arrive in good shape. Imagine the lightest and fluffiest omelet you can produce and then lace the interior with caviar and truffle shavings before you fold.

PS: Had a chance to chat with Petey tonight. A fine hobo, he is.

Yeah, boys, San finally put down Eddie's jug long enough to drag his *** outa the Palace Flophouse over to Lee Chong's to give me a call on the telephone.
Right nice to finally 'meet' the hobo, (though I could hardly tell what he wuz sayin' on accounta all his mumblin' and slurrin'
). Man just ain't quite right with his woman gone halfway 'round the world, and it'll be a short miracle if he can keep hisself from Ida's and the Lone Star 'til she gets back.
But he's a good ol' dude, gracious and upstanding, (when he's got a wall to lean aginst), and maybe someday one of us will git to work our way 'cross this wide country so we can hoist one in person.
It would be my distinct honor.
Tell ya what, though, considerin' your menu, think I'll be bringin' myself a pack of hotdogs to tide me over.

The Kitchen Bitch
A mother was working in the kitchen listening to her 5-year-old son playing
with his new electric train in the living room. She heard the train stop
and her son saying, "All of you sons of bitches who want off, get the hell
off now...because this is the last stop! And all of you sons of bitches who
are getting on, get your asses in the train...because we're going down the
tracks."
The horrified mother went in and told her son, "We don't use that kind of
language in this house. Now I want you to go to your room and you are to
stay there for TWO HOURS. When you come out, you may play with your train
.... but I want you to use nice language."
Two hours later, the son came out of the bedroom and resumed playing with
his train. Soon the train stopped and the mother heard her son say..."All
passengers, please remember your things, thank you and hope your trip was
a pleasant one. We hope you will ride with us again soon."
She heard her little darling continue..."For those of you just boarding,
remember, there is no smoking in the train. We hope you will have a
pleasant and relaxing journey with us today."
As the mother began to smile, the child added, "For those of you who are
pissed off about the TWO HOUR delay.....please see the bitch in the
kitchen..."

WHY MEN ARE HAPPIER THAN WOMEN
Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures?
• Your last name stays put.
• The garage is all yours.
• Wedding plans take care of themselves.
• Chocolate is just another snack.
• You can be President.
• You can never be pregnant.
• You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
• You can wear NO shirt to a water park.
• Car mechanics tell you the truth.
• The world is your urinal.
• You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.
• You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
• Same work, more pay.
• Wrinkles add character.
• Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$200.
• People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.
• The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected.
• New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.
• One mood all the time.
• Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
• You know stuff about armored tanks.
• A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
• You can open all your own jars.
• You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
• If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
• Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.
• Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.
• You almost never have strap problems in public.
• You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.
• Everything on your face stays its original color.
• The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
• You only have to shave your face and neck.
• You can play with toys all your life.
• Your belly usually hides your big hips.
• One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons.
• You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look.
• You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife.
• You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.
• You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.
ANY QUESTIONS? No wonder men are happier.
