24 out of 25. You got me on party lines. Knew what they were but didn't have one or know anyone who did. Let's talk about all of them in detail. Give me a call at IVanhoe1-0377 (that had to be memorized before I could leave the neighborhood on my own. Once we left we could be anywhere in a 10 mile radius. Mom couldn't have found me if her life depended on it. Same thing today, I'm in foster care, she's in jail.)

Sadly, being from a somewhat backwards area, much of that lasted into the 80s and the last party line was not closed until 2001!

After thinking about this, I can't say sadly. It's actuallu sad that these things are for the most part gone (except on the Stonycreek Valley)!

Hey Bob.......................Jennies diner ( the former Gehman's Diner ) on US Route 30 east of Lancaster still have the table juke boxes. It costs a quarter now for 3 songs. I remember when it was only a dime.

Still go there to eat. If your ever in the area stop in. You won't leave there hungry. They really pile the food on your plate..................

I'm older than dirt. The only one that got me was butch wax. Everything else is very familiar. Growin' up, we were on a party line, but we only had 3 numbers and a letter. Our phone # was 344J.

And talk about the ten mile radius. Hell, when I was 17, me and three buddies separated into twos, and hitchhiked to North Wildwood, N. J. Spent a friggin' week down there, and hitched back home. I left the house with $21.00 in my pocket, and we drank beer every night.
