Hey Bob.......................Jennies diner ( the former Gehman's Diner ) on US Route 30 east of Lancaster still have the table juke boxes. It costs a quarter now for 3 songs. I remember when it was only a dime.

Still go there to eat. If your ever in the area stop in. You won't leave there hungry. They really pile the food on your plate..................

A rainy night in Southern California. This Spring has been the coldest Winter we have had in some time. No surfing tomorrow as the runoff will hit the sewer system and the water will be polluted. Nevertheless, these damp evenings have salt in the air and make you think of the ocean. Still wearing winter bicycle clothes in 50ish morning and evening temperatures.

Last weekend of bachelorhood before the return of Jahantab. A mess in Iran any way you look at it and a most reluctant, elder, and quite ill mother in law there who does not want to budge. She is quite the old rascal. Could be a hobo if she was more mobile. Will be good to have the love of my life back again. Godspeed.

I suppose I am going to have to do something about the Leland Detroit Monorail System that is running in the living room. Our (shall we say South of the border) maid has been instructed not to mess with it and fears that it will start up with no reason ever since I demonstrated it to her. She avoids that section of the house entirely lately.

That's a cool story but you did say 17 right? I was talkin'about as soon as you could repeat the phone number on demand. I'm age 5, 6 tops! Trust me, I know this stuff. You ain't goin' into foster care at 17 because ya' mom doesn't know where you are. That's the entire current population. And at 17 I was 35 miles away in the Village becoming a punk *** hippie. I had to. It was 1968 and my Dad was a cop. (and an ex DI at Paris Island. My mom got between when the blood started to run. As I write this he's 3 feet away from me. We're runnin' trains tonight. Tomorrow we start work on a prewar layout for him. He has 2 locos, a 1700E with cars I bought him 2 years ago and a Marine Corps Beep and caboose my brother just bought him for Christmas.)

'76? Why you're just a lad! I "could" have been there in '69 had I lived a decent life. Took a pass on that whole Nam thing, don't know what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure I DID inhale but who can be sure. I'm not certain of Dad's precise dates but 1941-45 is ballpark. He was 18 when he enlisted. He was in 8th grade at the time. My kids love that. My father-in-law passed thru about that time on his way to getting shot in the *** at Bougainville. Raise ya' glasses to the "greatest generation". Quickly, they're existing in droves.
