Tramp, I've been in such a rush today, I never even checked out the other side of the reefer! Is there something else there?

Sometimes a man is bad; sometimes a man is even badder than that. Sometimes you're so bad you get the biggest lump of coal on earth. And then you're very happy. Why? Because you know you have a friend that understands you.

Me? 3 shots John Powers, 2 coffees with Baileys, and I'm just getting started!

Merry Christmas to all my hobo friends! The weary world rejoices.

I lift my glass to all of you and your families. A special Christmas wish for peace and happiness to Tramp (my generous friend for many years now), Petah (God, how we all long to be you sometimes), San (the divine), and Will (though you're not here, you are).

Thanks, Jackie. I'll be waiting until after services for a sip of the grape. At church, they will fire up the pipe organ and have the people who ring bells that make music. I like that kind of thing.

Merry Christmas wishes to you. You've brought grace, wit, and the ocasional glimpse of life as you see it to our midst. It's been a pleasure.

Jon, darling, I did not forget you. Merry Christmas to you, prince of princes. Your wife should know she's a lucky lady!

The wife's family is up here now, opening gifts, so I'm out back by myself, naked, playing some zydeco on my squeezebox.
But the spirit is not lost!! In a while I'm gonna collect a bunch of used tires from around the yard, stack them up pyramid like ,in the shape of a Christmas tree, fire it up, and let the kids roast marshmallows. :D

Jackie, I almost started to cry, until I remembered that you were the model Tramp used for the reefer door. Hubba-hubba!!! :D

The house is dark and quiet, our most clamorous of holidays over a day early, my family soundly asleep in bed. I am the only soul left standing, taking a moment to savor the advent of the actual day, a deep breath of frigid air alongside emerald pine, in silver moonlight, the world as still and deep as my kids' peaceful breathing.

I had hoped for at least 5 AM? Foolish me! No word of this a lie, the kids were up, popping and fizzing, at 2:30 AM!. Marley's ghosts, all three at once. We begged them to try a video, anything to stall, but alas. (Again, foolish dad!) Kim And I were out of bed at 3 AM for the presents-ritual.

The kids got all they had wished for. Aaron, 7, lusting for a BB gun, had been out hunting with my father-in-law during buck-season, in full vigilance, with his pop-gun in hand. (Honest, I have a picture. He wears his heart on his sleeve).
Having gone through his gifts and finding no gun, he said completely cheerfully "I didn't get my BB gun, but that's OK". (I couldn't have been prouder of him). But dad was pulling his best Darren McGavin, and Art had become Life, and the Last-Present was wrapped and hidden behind a desk. He was thrilled, a moment you parents will grok.
And damn if he isn't a decent shot.

But I'm tired, been a loooong day, and its time to toss a few more lumps of coal in the cast iron, and crawl under the blanket.

Merry Christmas to all, and I'd like also to mention Dufus and Stiff, (miss them boys). May you all get everything you desire today.

God rest ye, merry gentlehobos, may nothing you dismay

ps: Jackie, I am deeply honored.
But how ironic! For how I long to have your wit, your Fire, your intelligence, your graciousness, and your Heart.
A special "Merry Christmas" to you.

And a 'Good morning' to you, Jon. Got my own cup of joe warming my fingers.
May I ask, how old is your son?
