Hard to choose between whiskey and pisco . . . how about a beer with Coca Cola in it? Did you ever see anyone drinking that in South America? When I did I thought it sounded horrid but I actually loved it on a wicked hot afternoon in Nazca.

I told the witch doctor
I was in love with you
I told the witch doctor
I was in love with you
And then the witch doctor
He told me what to do

He said that

Ooo eee,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang...
Ooo eee ,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla ,bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang

I told the witch doctor
You didn't love me true
I told the witch doctor
You didn't love me nice
And then the witch doctor
He game me this advice

He said that

Ooo eee,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang...
Ooo eee ,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla ,bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang

You've been keeping love from me
Just like you were a miser
And i'll admit i wasn't very smart
So i went out and found myself
A guy that's so much wiser
And he taught me the way to win your heart

My friend the witch doctor
He taught me what to say
My friend the witch doctor
He taught me what to do
I know that you'll be mine
When i say this to you

Ooo eee,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang...
Ooo eee ,ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla ,bing bang
Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla bing bang

Sometimes I prefer the lime & coconut.........

Brother bought a coconut
He bought it for a dime.
His sister had another
She paid it for the lime.

She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.
She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.
She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.
She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.

she put the lime in the coconut
she called the doctor, woke him up, and said
"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take"
I said, "Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?"
I said, "Doctor ain't there nothing I can take"
I said, "Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?"

Now let me get this straight;
You put the lime in the coconut
You drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut,
You drank them both up
put the lime in the coconut,
you drank them both up
put the lime in the coconut,
called your doctor, woke him up, and said,

"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take"
I said, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?"
I said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take"
I said, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?"

You put the lime in the coconut, you drink them both together,
put the lime in the cocount, then you'll feel better.
Put the lime in the coconut, and drink them both up,
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning."

Brother bought a coconut
He bought it for a dime.
His sister had another

She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.
she put the lime in the coconut

Now let me get this straight;
You put the lime in the coconut
You drank them both up
put the lime in the coconut,
You drink them both up
the lime in the coconut,
you drink them both up
you put the lime in the coconut,
you're such a silly woman,
put a lime in the coconut,
and drink them both together,
put the lime in the coconut,
then you'll feel better.
put the lime in the coconut,
drink them both down,
put the lime in the coconut,
and call me in the morning

Ah, Ms. Daisy! This forum would be utterly diminished if you weren't here posting.
You and Tramp are the soul of this forum.

I thought I was just providing rebuttal. Yes, our realities are different, though not so different as you may think. As a family, we catch and release all in-house bees, wasps, and spiders. Mice caught by our cat that are still alive are released into the hedgerow. How retarded is that? Like they won't be able to find their way across the lawn and back into our house. (I need to re-think that policy.)
But, everywhere, are blurry lines.
I would argue that a mousetrap is hugely more humane than the seemingly more natural method of letting a cat kill them, if judging by the cats in our neighborhood, which often employ a prolonged method of death.
I don't at all mind you taking me to task for mowing my fields, but here, more blurry lines.
Yes, I do not 'farm' my land. I removed this land from that usage and got it into a so-called 'Crop Reserve Enhancement Program'. This is designed to help reduce the runoff of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and erosion into the Susquehanna River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay, with the longterm purpose of improving both water quality and the natural habitat of fish and shellfish. To that end, I use none of the first 3, and the stopping of the plowing ends the 4th. The other goal of this program is to provide cover and food for native birds like turkey and grouse. To that end, whole-field mowing is not done until July, (to avoid disturbing nesting areas), and to improve the 'feed'-value, the ground was originally planted with timothy, clover, and orchard grass. However, a fallow natural Pennsylvania meadow is far removed from those 3 plants, and when I would leave a field to it's own devices, it quickly filled with Multiflora Rose, Canadian Thistle, poison ivy, and a very dense thorned ground briar, (which I have yet to identify), among a host of others. None of those are palatable to anything. Moreover, they are considered by Pennsylvania to be "Noxious weeds", and in the terms of this program, I am subject to fine if I do not keep them under control. To this end, I have the choice of mowing, or some widespread use of, yes, herbicide. I choose mowing, both as the more ecologically-appropriate alternative, and because the mowing allows the regrowth of the original grasses, rather than killing them.
Blurry lines.
One other issue I would have to face is the wrath of neighbors who ARE farmers, if all my noxious weed growth were to seed their land when the winds blow and the fauna move them around. They use a considerable amount of time and expense to keep their lands clean. I have SOME responsilibilty to be a considerate neighbor.

We evidently have had some success with the fauna. Our land is home to deer, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, opossum, hobos, turkey, skunk, fox, coyote, and most recently, to some excitement, bear, (besides the 'pest'). The peregrine, merlin, kestrel, rough-legged hawk, red-tailed hawk, and the great-horned owl I hear on summer nights, cannot easily hunt on un-mown land. I've seen them all, except the elusive hobo, though I've taken some considerable pains to help even them feel welcome.

Image

There's another rare harrier we've seen hunting over our ground, as yet unidentified. (Perhaps someone on this thread could help).

Image

And I take some comfort in knowing that the groundhogs do not go to waste, as they have not failed, within 48 hours, to disappear to one lair or another, and provide food to the scavengers in the environment, (most of whom could likely die excruciatingly painful deaths of malnutrition without that nutricious groundhog meat). It's got something to do with a concept I've invented which I call "the circle of life". (I'm going to write a story around that idea one of these days.)

One other thing, I wouldn't mind if the groundhogs dug their d*mn excavations in the hedgerows or the woods. You would think THEY could try to be a little more considerate themselves, and think about what I have to do, and into how much risk they put ME... But then there's always the problem of their procreation, which THEY could solve also, if THEY would only use some little groundhog prophylactics. So besides being among the most inconsiderate of animals, it just doesn't seem basically FAIR, if the mowing provides food for SO many others, to have a supremely selfish groundhog, who refuses to dig his hole in the woods, abruptly end the mowing season by being the cause of a broken axle.

Image

But Daisy, I too have felt 'alone' here, on occasion. I even once jumped into a thread populated by Ultra-Right-Wing-Conservatives, (me alone against the entire lot of them), and suggested that they all were at risk of suffering from a latent homosexuality, before making my escape. Talk about stirring a hornet's nest!!

No, your's and Tramp's opinions are totally welcome here. This is, afterall, The Hobo Jungle, proud home of the motliest gang of mongrels that ever graced a forum.
And differences of opinions don't mean SH*T between friends.

And yes, once again I've completely ignored the subject of your original argument, except I thought it praiseworthy of Aaron to sacrifice the few to provide for the many. A Democratic goal if I ever heard one.

This is the last I'll say on the subject. I love you two and everything you write, and to you I surrender the last word.

Pete, you really are a dear person. I want to tell you after reading/viewing that post that I've been disturbed and restless all night for the past two nights looking up into the flecked darkness out of bed feeling wretched and twisted up inside about having written any of what I did, and all day today as I walked around in one of the most truly beautiful New England summer days my thoughts kept going to how bad I felt about it, and here I peak on to see the jungle and find this. I do feel as I do, but I felt terrible having voiced it. I hate voicing things and in that being harsh. And particularly when it seemed it was targeted at you, very dearest you. Anyway, thank you so much for your lovely above. I think the owls would do just fine hunting in a natural field, but I so so so appreciate everything else you've informed me of. I still believe the poor g-hog deserved a better "memorial service" in spirit than the he-mainish bravo display, but I do agree that the poor thing served another in the end in the circle of life. I think you're the dearest thing. Sorry to have disturbed. Sometimes I just get too riled by proud attacks on the little quiet guys to stay sweet and fluffy as I usually am and plan to remain as much as possible. thank you dear friend for understanding and taking the time and care to ease my troubled spirit about all of this. I believe maybe it's all about respect for one another, all creatures, great and small, which I have up the wazoo for you, the former, and the g-hog, the latter.
