Class

Sometimes, we say that somebody or something "has class." What do we mean when we say that?
Class may be an abstraction, not something concrete, perhaps, but we feel we know it when we see or experience it in somebody else.

I've heard it said that class is something we cannot say about ourselves, however, for if we do, at that moment, we do not have class, by sayin it about ourselves. The assessment of a person having Class is something that can only be bestowed by others on others, not taken upon oneself.

In the public arena - sports; entertainment; politics; science; medicine; religion, etc. - as well as in our private lives, when have you experienced a person you felt had class? What was it about them that constituted their having class, in your mind, specifically ? Who is/was that person?

When have you seen a person you felt certain, by your definition, had zero class?

To me it's been synonymous with a "lady" or a "gentleman" aka

"someone who always tries to make sure the people around him or her are as comfortable as possible."

Almost every hour or every day, whether in person or in the media. While they are still the exception rather than the rule it is disheartening that such behavior is now commonly accepted and worse, admired.

I just today watched an interview of Jackie Evancho and her brother who is now her sister.
In this twenty minute interview she never once said "Like" or "Ya' know". She also took questions from the audience.
She talked very calmly about losing most of her friends when her brother "came out" and she supported the LG???? movement
because of her "sister". I think this would be hard to do.
I also think that Miss Evancho is one of the talented young singers I have ever heard and I hope she continues her musical career.
I think she has CLASS.

Now I have said what I think and hope that some more of you will. I see no need to argue about our opinions on this .
